Kalma

Nikolas Resin and Waiata May Kalma-de Jong founded Kalma Wines in 2022, bringing fresh energy to the vibrant natural wine scene in Vittoria, Sicily. After years in France, they moved with their two children, drawn by the region’s bright, balanced wines and its tight-knit community of vignerons.

Living and working in their restored 1800s cantina, they craft wines with a deep respect for the land, using regenerative agriculture and minimal intervention. Their goal? Healthy vines, thriving soils, and wines that reflect the soul of Sicily.

Kalma’s 2023 vintage introduces exciting blends from their own vineyards, featuring Nero d’Avola, Frappato, Grillo, Albanello, and Merlot. We can’t wait to share them with you in Copenhagen!

A Philosophy Rooted in the Vineyard

For Nikolas, everything starts with how you grow your plants. He believes in working with nature, not against it—reducing irrigation, avoiding synthetic treatments, and promoting biodiversity through cover crops and homemade bio-fertilizers.

“The soil isn’t just a substrate; it’s full of life,” he says. “Healthy farming leads to better wines, and that’s what truly matters.”

With a shifting wine market, Kalma stays true to its vision: wines made with care, transparency, and a deep connection to the land. Instead of chasing perfection, they invite drinkers to ask—is this wine made with integrity?
