Vintage: 2023

Region: Montilla, Córdoba, Andalucía

Grapes: Pedro Ximénez 85%, Autochthonous varieties (Moscatel etc.) 15%

Production: Around 1,420 bottles and 50 magnums produced.

ABV: 13.4%

Agriculture: Organic, old bush vines on albariza (calcareous marl) soils. Harvest at 3–4am in mid-August.

Vinification: Fermented in 500L Fino barrels. Aged under flor for 12 months. More oxidative character introduced toward the end. No racking, no batonnage. Low SO₂.

Tasting notes: Contemplative and structured, with the flor ageing adding a savoury, layered depth. Creamier and rounder on the palate, with richer fruit and a subtle oxidative note that trails pleasantly on the finish without ever feeling heavy. Thicker skins from the Benavente parcel give this wine grip and presence.

Volume: 750ml

From the Benavente parcel, where thicker skins and more structured fruit set the wine apart from its Río Frío sibling. This wine comes across as the more contemplative of the two in the Ojo y Coíllo range. The flor ageing adds a savoury depth and complexity: it's at once modern in style and layered on the palate, with oxidative notes that linger as a subtle aftertaste without ever tipping into heaviness.
