Anforaje

Anforaje is the vision of Jacopo, a young and passionate winemaker devoted to Pantelleria and its iconic Zibibbo grape. Originally a chef, Jacopo fell in love with this rugged, no-frills island, surrounded by the deep cobalt blue of the Mediterranean.
Pantelleria has been home to Zibibbo since around 1200 BC, when the Phoenicians introduced the grape to this unique volcanic landscape. Known for its intense aromatics and vibrant minerality, Zibibbo thrives in extreme conditions. Due to increasing drought and the challenges of cultivation, Pantelleria’s traditional sapling-trained vineyards were recognized as UNESCO World Heritage in 2014—an acknowledgment of the island’s true heroic viticulture.
Jacopo carefully tends to his vines, harvesting by hand and selecting only the healthiest grapes. Fermentation happens naturally in terracotta amphorae (ranging from 80 to 400 liters), using only the indigenous yeasts present on the skins. Over two to three weeks, the wine develops its aromas and structure, before being sealed in amphorae for slow maturation. When the time is right, the wine is bottled unfiltered, preserving its raw purity and energy.
From vine to bottle, Anforaje is an honest expression of Pantelleria’s terroir.
