Bonavita

Bonavita makes wine on a rugged peninsula stretching into the Mediterranean, where the Tyrrhenian and Ionian Seas meet. This is Faro, one of Sicily’s oldest DOCs and one of its best-kept secrets. Unlike the now-famous wines of Mount Etna to the south, Faro remains almost untouched—only five wineries call this windswept region home.

At Bonavita, Giovanni Scarfone continues his family's century-old tradition, practicing organic farming on the steep hills behind the village of Faro Superiore. The strong winds from the Strait of Messina shield the vineyards from the intense Sicilian heat, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly and develop complexity.

Bonavita’s Rosato is as joyful and juicy as it is serious in origin, made from vines ranging from 10 to 80 years old. Aged in steel and cement, it captures the freshness and depth of this historic terroir—ready to drink, yet deeply rooted in the past.

With a history dating back to ancient Greek settlers, Faro has been a land of wine for millennia. Once exported to France in the 19th century, this unique region is reclaiming its place on the world stage. Bonavita is leading the charge, proving that Faro’s wines are every bit as remarkable as its story.
