The Viura, harvested slightly before full ripeness, provides structure and sets the profile of the wine, while the Verdejo brings aromatic expression, freshness, and character. The blend shifts slightly from vintage to vintage depending on how each variety performs, but the result is always the same in spirit: a wine that reflects the harmony between the two grapes and the personality of the place they come from.

The 2024 is salty, linear, and fresh, with a touch of flintiness and a clean, direct quality that makes it very easy to drink without being simple. The name comes from a charming piece of local history: it was once common in this part of Castilla y León to mark the boundary of a plot with whatever was to hand. Here, the original owner left a chair (a silla) which also gave her somewhere to rest.

The vines in Alcazarén are over a century old and ungrafted, planted on the deep aeolian sandy soils that protected the area from phylloxera. Vines this old and this undisturbed express themselves differently: lower yields, smaller berries, and a concentration and complexity that younger plantings simply can't replicate. The whole cluster maceration and long lees ageing add texture and depth while keeping the wine honest to its origins. Viura has always been present in this part of Castilla y León - it was the variety Beatriz's grandfather grew in La Seca. But Viura rarely gets the serious treatment it deserves. After a trip to La Rioja, where Viura has a longer history of being vinified for ageing, Bea and Félix came back with a simple question: why not make a genuinely great wine from it? The answer was El Judas, sourced from the Las Cotarras parcel in Villanueva de Duero, where 70 year old vines grow on siliceous sandy soils with larger gravel on the surface, at 708 metres altitude. The same winemaking approach as La Sillería applies here: spontaneous fermentation in barrel, a full year on lees, then four months in tank before a light filtration and bottling without cold stabilisation.

Vintage: 2022

Region: Castilla y León, Valladolid

Grapes: Palomino 100%

Agriculture: Organic, ungrafted vines over 100 years old, La Liebre parcel, Alcazarén.
